The marina at Monaco

October 2007

The autumn show season has been as busy as ever, with RSD exhibiting at the world’s two leading superyacht shows - the Monaco and Fort Lauderdale Boat Shows. Monaco remains the premier superyacht event, with nearly fifty yacht designers taking stands this year, and the quality of the visitors was as outstanding as ever. The RSD stand, situated at the heart of ‘designers’ row’ on the waterfront, was consistently busy, with R/S Eden and a new 140-metre superyacht design taking centre stage. The enthusiastic reception for R/S Eden was greatly enhanced by the fact that she was moored a short distance away at Villefranche. With a fantastic turnout of some of the world’s most impressive motor and sailing yachts, the Monaco Yacht Show continues to be an outstanding event at which to make new contacts and renew existing relationships.

R/S Eden and the 140-metre designs also featured prominently in the Ft Lauderdale display, where the RSD stand formed part of the British quarter that included fellow Brits Oyster Marine, Devonport and Dixon Yacht Design. Despite some heavy rain during the first couple of days the four-day show was well attended by both trade representatives and owners, with the result that Tim and Rupert had a steady flow of visitors keen to discuss prospective projects and subsequently returned to the UK with a number of 60+ metre enquiries to develop. The ongoing presence at the Ft Lauderdale show demonstrates the commitment that RSD has to the US market, and remains one of the most important events on the RSD calendar.
