RMD on the road in 2008 and looking ahead to 2009

December 2008

RSD enjoyed another successful Monaco Yacht Show this year – still the biggest and best superyacht show in our calendar. With our stand in the heart of the designers’ row, RSD had a selection of new projects on display at the show, primarily in the 50-metre to 85-metre range, plus our new classically designed 115m, a 63m yacht specifically designed for cruising with a young family, and new concepts in both explorer and shadow vessels. RSD also used the show to launch the first in our eco-yacht series which was profiled at length in the November issue of Boat International.

Wrapping up the 2008 show season, RSD was at Fort Lauderdale building on the previous year’s success where a prestigious new-build contract was signed for the development of an 86-metre superyacht to be constructed by renowned US builder Derecktor Shipyards, along with a development agreement for a 49.5m motoryacht with Burger Boats of Wisconsin. On a visit to METS in Amsterdam we were delighted with the successful conclusion of our agreement to design the styling for a new Craig Loomes wave-piercer – see above for the full story.

The RSD team is now looking forward to attending the Dubai show again in March 2009, particularly as the inaugural Abu Dhabi yacht show will be taking place the following week. With its exclusive high-profile entrance policy, the Abu Dhabi shows looks set to attract the leading participants in the superyacht world, and RSD will be there supporting the new event and extending its presence in the region.

We are looking forward to enjoying a busy and auspicious year of activities in 2009 and hope to meet you at Dubai and/or Abu Dhabi in March. In the meantime, we wish all our clients, partners and associates a cheerful festive season and prosperity in the new year.
